The land of the kiwis, New Zealand, is a true treat for tourists featuring everything from serene beaches to rocky mountainous landscapes, exciting nightlife to rustic countrysides, and gushing geysers and volcanoes to snow clad mountains. New Zealand is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and consists essentially of two large islands, namely the North Island and South Island, which are separated by the Cook Strait. There are also are numerous smaller ones, of which the largest is Stewart Island (often referred to as the “third island”). Keeping tourism in mind, the country has been divided into 24 regions to better locate and identify places within the country. New Zealand is a democracy headed by the Governor General, with a multi party system; there also exists a constitutional monarchy.
